History

The Getter Peterson Consulting Group began in 2013 after longtime journalist Lisa Getter left Bloomberg Government, where she had been the director of finance and tax analysis.  The company rebranded as Gett Strategic when executive communications expert Jonathan Peterson joined in 2017.  

Our mission is to develop a strategy that gives you influence, results and impact. We find (and refine) your organization's voice.

Jonathan Peterson 

Jonathan Peterson is an award-winning speechwriter, journalist and best-selling author, skilled at crafting messages with impact for any audience and expert in the workings of Washington, D.C. He spent nine years as executive communications director at AARP, providing communications advice and content to top executives and the board president. His book Social Security for Dummies (about to enter its third edition) landed on the best-seller lists.  Prior to joining AARP, he was a Washington correspondent for the Los Angeles Times, covering the White House, social welfare, economic policy and regulatory affairs. He shared in a Pulitzer Prize for coverage of the Los Angeles riots and won an Overseas Press Club award for international economics. He has also won the APEX Grand Prize for speechwriting, as well as first place in the Cicero Speechwriting Awards.  He has a Master's degree in journalism and public affairs (with honors) from American University and a Bachelor's degree in political science (with honors)  from the State University of New York at Cortland.

Lisa Getter

Lisa Getter is an award-winning editor, analyst, reporter and investigator with specialized knowledge in finance and risk.  She founded the company in 2013 after leaving Bloomberg Government, where she led a team of finance and tax analysts who explored the implications of government actions on industry. Prior to that, she was editorial director and publisher at UCG, a specialized business information provider. She spent 23 years at newspapers, first at the Miami Herald and then at the Los Angeles Times, primarily as an investigative reporter. She was part of two-Pulitzer Prize winning teams at the Miami Herald and twice a nominated Pulitzer finalist. She also shared in the Goldsmith Prize for Investigative Reporting for a series on immigration. She has a Bachelor's degree in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University.

Hannah Peterson

Hannah is an award-winning, published multimedia designer whose experience ranges from interactive design to CPG. She has designed for NBC Universal and Unilever, among others. She won a Graphis gold prize for logo design, had logos published in LogoLounge and was awarded a "Best in Class" in the Interactive Media Awards, all within five years of graduating from Temple University.
